Reflection on The Four Learning Theory Perspectives

Learning theories exaimine conceptual frameworks. How teachers view the role of technology in media in the classroom and decribing how information is processed during learning and that is based on their beliefs about how people learn.

Behaviorist Perspective:
Givig the learner feedback
Break down the task into small steps
Repeat the direction as many times as possible
Give positive reinforcement etc.

Cognitive Perspectie:

Creating models of how learners receive, process and manipulate information
How people think, solve problems and make decisions.
Creating a mental model of short-term and long-term memory.

Constructivist Perspective:

Active problem solving and discovery, consructivist emphasize that learners create their own interpretations of the world of information.
Learning experience within their own experience.

Social Psychology Perspective:

Interdependent collaborative abilities.
The principles of small-group collabraiton.
Learner-contolled instruction.
Reward based on group achievement.

When i was high school, my teacher based cognitive and social psychology learning theories. For example, the teacher gives us a problem which is related with the course and the teacher wanted to solve the problem with our own decisions and thoughts with a small-groups.The activities were pretty effective to overcome the problem. My advice as a teacher-in-training is that behaviorist perspective and cognitive perspective regard the use of technolgy.

  1. Hi selime, In my opinion, it is right to choose the cognitive learning theory as it's allow students discover and be cruise about subject. This will help to understand and solve the problems easily. On the other hand, if I were you ,I wouldn't choose the behaviorist perspective since it is one way teaching method so there is no so much interaction between students and teacher.

  3. Hi Selime! You gave information about learning theories and you said that behaviorist and cognitivist approach are better than others. I have a question. How will you apply on your students these? Can you give an example? Thank you!!! :)

  5. Hi Selime. I think that behaviorist perspective has many advantages for students. For example, teachers give the learner feedback. Feedback is an essential part of education and training programmes. It helps learners to maximise their potential at different stages of training, raise their awareness of strengths and areas for improvement, and identify actions to be taken to improve performance. In addition, cognitive perspective is very helpful for students. By the way, students learn to overcome a variety of problems about all topics.
